The 2010 Crabbe Memorial
Poetry Competition
(Inaugurated in 1954 - The Bicentenary of the Birth of George Crabbe)

The winner of the First Prize will receive the Crabbe Memorial Silver Rose Bowl, engraved with the winner's name, to hold for one year, together with £500. The Second Prize will be £150 and the Third Prize £100. Plus additional prize money of £25 each to two highly commended poems.

An anthology of the winning and commended poems will be published in October 2009. Copies may be ordered in advance price £3.00 (inc p&p)

RULES OF ENTRY
  1. Entrants should either have been born, or educated, or resident in Suffolk, or be a member of The Suffolk Poetry Society (see information below ).
  2. Poems should be in English and a maximum of 50 lines.
  3. Poems must be the writers own work, not published or broadcast, and not be currently entered in any other competition.
  4. Each poem must be typed on a separate sheet of A4 paper and submitted in DUPLICATE with the fee. The poets name should appear on copy 1 only.
  5. The adjudicator’s decision is final.
  6. No entrant can win more than one prize.
  7. Winners will be notified to the Press at the same time that winners are notified.
  8. Copyright of the poem remains with the poet, who will grant the Suffolk Poetry Society permission to publish any winning poem free of charge.
  9. An Anthology of the winning poems can be ordered for a cost of £3.
